Book Insights:

Diabetes Without Complications

Diabetes Without Complications: Nearly Forty Years of Life, Lessons and Secrets is now available from Trafford Publishing. This groundbreaking book covers type 1, type 2, and pre-diabetes. The book is intended to help the reader create important discussion topics with his or her physician and other medical professionals. The appendix contains the author's personal medical records to show the basic tests required for any successful diabetes management program. Section One contains lessons learned over the author's nearly 40 years with diabetes, including other important subjects. Section Two helps the reader build a successful diabetes management program.

I wanted to write this book to provide an inspiration to everyone affected by diabetes—whether it be type 1, type 2 or pre-diabetes, including family members and friends. Physicians and other medical professionals can take away valuable information and insights from the book. The book was researched and written over a two-year period; however, the content of the book has been under development for nearly 40 years.

Considerable effort was taken in researching the scientific and medical literature that is referenced in the book. The extensive references allow the reader, physician(s), and other medical professionals to obtain further information on the subject matter. The book went through an extensive nine-month peer review system. The peer review included two tiers or levels: the first tier included physicians (specialists) and other medical professionals whom reviewed the book; the second tier included a variety of people with diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, including individuals with diabetes.

The first part of the book is my autobiography and it covers valuable information on type 1, type 2, and pre-diabetes. It also includes "Lessons Learned" over my nearly 40 years with diabetes that can be used to create discussion topics with physician(s). The lessons can be applied to type 1 and type 2 diabetes; while some lessons are applicable to pre-diabetes. Regardless of your situation, Part One contains important information for everyone.

Part two includes two graphical tools, including one tool that has never been published before. This tool is a "strategic agenda" (used with permission) and it was originally developed for business use by Strategy and Organizational Development (OD) expert, Richard Wintermantel. This tool can be applied to one's personal and family life, including business and diabetes management.

A second tool (used with permission) was originally developed by author and business expert Dr. James F. Moore who wrote the best-selling business book The Death of Competition. I took Dr. Moore's concept and applied it to diabetes. This tool is an incredibly powerful tool and it can be used in so many ways for building a successful business, personal and family life.

I wish everyone the best in life and I hope this book will inspire you in many ways.
